We believe in the power of Apprenticeships to transforms lives and careers. As a training provider we deliver a wide range of Apprenticeships for other companies, but we also hire a number of our own Apprentices. They're a great route for anyone looking to combine practical on the job experience with nationally recognised qualifications.

Traineeships
TCHC now deliver traineeships to support people aged 19-24 in London, the East of England and West Midlands. Traineeships are education and training programmes focused on giving young people the skills to succeed as they enter the workforce.

The Government’s recently announced Kickstart Scheme is an innovative way to help young people into work. Your local Jobcentre will match eligible candidates to employers with relevant Kickstart vacancies, providing you with an opportunity to gain on the job experience as well as developing your skills. These vacancies can only be filled by applicants supplied via the Jobcentre.

Purpose of Job

TCHC delivers a wide range of apprenticeships up to Level 5 to learners of all ages in the workplace. The curriculum is blended learning where on site and digital lessons are provided to upskill learners and improve performance in Employer businesses.

The Apprenticeship Manager will be accountable for maximising and managing the performance of training provision for Apprenticeships, across the organisation, ensuring all agreed contractual and company targets are achieved through effective leadership of the team and by building an environment in which the company can develop and prosper.

Key Objectives would be to:

  • To provide day to day management of the apprenticeship team
  • To meet or exceed Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR) and Minimum Levels of Performance (MLP) targets
  • To prepare monthly forecasts and profiles
  • To drive the apprenticeship team to provide ROI and be profitable
  • To keep up to date with the latest developments and changes within the apprenticeship sector and to cascade and translate into a workable operation
  • To engage with all relevant stakeholders’ and to effectively manage and deploy team members to meet financial, administrative, and quality targets and objectives in line with the overarching strategy of the company
  • To meet and exceed OFSTED and ESFA requirements

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As the Apprenticeship Manager you will have responsibility to ensure that TCHC are profitable and that starts, and completions are processed timely with learners in learning progressing as expected.

Strategic

  • To meet individual and team KPI’s and targets as set out by TCHC
  • To raise the profile of TCHC across the areas we operate in
  • To be part of the OFSTED working group, designing and implementing policies and procedures across TCHC to meet OFSTED requirements
  • Work with the Marketing team to ensure that any projects are effectively marketed, delivered and case studies developed to support future work.
  • Effectively adhere to and implement areas of the education inspection framework within the centre procedures and approaches

Management

  • Lead, motivate and coach your team to achieve targets and in support of their job role
  • Performance manage and regularly review all the direct reports, ensure effective application of the performance management process for all staff, and ensure direct reports have the necessary support and guidance to deliver target
  • Monitor performance through effective analysis of data, ensure actions taken to address identified areas of underperformance and addressed in line with HR policies, quality processes, performance management and disciplinary procedure
  • Ensuring that staff development and CPD activities are planned to meet identified needs
  • Ensure that learner recruitment is running smoothly and processed on time and that the processes in place work to meet the needs of the business. Although the Apprenticeship Manager assumes overall accountability for this they must work very closely with the Sales team
  • Work with your team to drive learners to progress and completions to come in on time
  • Work with the HR department to recruit staff including support and monitoring recruitment to meet required staffing levels, expertise and budgeted targets
  • Communicating updates and information to team members and companywide regarding apprenticeships
  • Ensure that your team follow our apprenticeship learning coach processes and procedures and provide training where required to address any issues
  • Monitor apprenticeship related paperwork to ensure it is accurate and processed timely such as break in learning, start, completion and learning support paperwork.
  • Ensure your team provide impartial information, advice and guidance to all learners at the start, middle and end of their apprenticeship as a minimum
  • Drive the team to ensure that learners off-the-job training is recorded, and learners achieve the minimum levels as per the funding rules
  • Work with the team and the Core Skills Quality Manager to ensure that functional skills aims are completed timely and any overdue have action plans
  • Chair team meetings as required to create a ‘one team one TCHC culture’
  • Ensure employer HASPs and ELIs are up to date
  • Motivate the team to provide good quality case studies each quarter
  • Review learner and employer feedback regularly and make changes with approval to provide a better learner experience
  • Manage in conjunction with the HR department any accidents or incidents relating to your team
  • Take ownership of tracking any company bonus schemes for your department

Operational

  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding (including Prevent) the welfare of all learners for whom you have responsibility for or with whom you come into contact with and adhere to TCHC’s Safeguarding and Prevent policies.
  • To provide monthly updates on staff caseload capacity, risks or concerns and recommendations to Directors
  • Ensure that PED reports are monitored and follow up on always so that learners do not become untimely
  • Ensure staff appraisals and one-to-ones are carried out in line with company requirements
  • Ensure caseload reviews take place each month and are recorded for audit trail
  • Monitor and report on the team’s clock in/out, sickness and annual leave days each month by the date set by the HR department
  • Ensure the RPL forms are completed for learners at the start of their programme
  • Raise purchase orders and invoices relating to employers in line with company and contract requirements and follow up requests to ensure payment has been made
  • Monitor and review learner progress weekly
  • Actively promote and raise the profile of TCHC Group in the apprenticeship sector including attending events, networking and attending job centres as well as working with funders and awarding bodies when required
  • Set team KPIs and monitor them monthly
  • Ensure high quality and accuracy of data, MI and auditable documents across the team
  • Monitor monthly financial performance and analyse monthly HUB reports to ensure payments accurately reflect activity
  • Ensure identified areas of best practice are shared across the team
  • Prepare costings as required to ensure delivery is cost effective
  • To work with the quality team to ensure quality processes and Awarding Organisation requirements are always maintained
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and Equality & Diversity and Data Security / Data Protection legislation and company policies and procedures in respect of these areas
  • Read and provide updates to other Managers and the Directors on any changes or new funding rules
  • Ensure development needs are identified and training implemented to meet staff needs
  • To work collaboratively with the administration team on all data entry to ensure all ESFA and other paperwork is correct and in line with funding, contractual and awarding organisation requirements
  • Evaluate and monitor performance through the Self-Assessment and Quality Improvement processes, supporting production of the Self-Assessment Report
  • To ensure areas of improvement are identified and addressed through a regularly monitored Quality Improvement Plan to drive continuous improvement
  • To support on audits, OFSTED inspection or other accreditations as required
