There are currently 1.48 million people working in the health and social care sector - this is expected to rise by 500,000 in the next ten years, as the number of older people requiring care increases. This means there are many opportunities in the sector.

The Health and Social Care sector requires skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated workers. Our Apprenticeships in Health and Social Care provide the right skills and tools needed to work in this caring and important sector.

Adult Care Worker Level 2

Working in the care sector makes a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. Adult Care Workers need to have the right values and behaviours developing competences and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support. They are the front-line staff, without whom many adults would not achieve their personal goals and live independently and safely.

  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship will award a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care – Adult Care Worker. If you do not have a Maths and English GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) you will be required to complete Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1 during the Apprenticeship
  • Length of programme is a minimum of 12 months

  • Adult Care Workers are at the core of person-centred care. Successful completion can lead to promotion and continued professional development, potentially onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Lead Adult Care Worker.

  • There are no mandatory entry requirements, but you must be willing to undergo a DBS check.
  • Traits that you should display are empathy, care and an interest in others. You should have a suitable level of physical fitness and ability to perform some aspects of the job roles.
  • This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16+.

Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3

Lead Adult Care Workers make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They have to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control. By providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery. They are instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care – Lead Adult Care Worker
  • If you do not have a Maths and English GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) you will be required to complete Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2 during the Apprenticeship 
  • Length of programme is a minimum of 15 months

  • The employer sets entry requirements however, some prior experience in a health care role would be welcome. You must be willing to undergo a DBS check. Traits that you should display are empathy, care and an interest in others. You should have a suitable level of physical fitness to enable you to perform some aspects of the job roles. For example, these may, involve assisting in moving and handling of people.

Leader in Adult Care Level 5

By providing leadership, guidance and direction to staff at the frontline of care delivery you are instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support.

The qualification will help people working in the care sector to progress into a leadership role and can provide access to higher education opportunities.

Depending on your chosen path, your Apprenticeship will award one of the following qualifications:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care 

 If you do not have a Maths and English GCSE grade C or above, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2 during the Apprenticeship.

Length of programme is a minimum of 18 months.
