It can be a stressful time, waiting for the A Level results to be published. You want to know the outcome now, or never.
But when you do finally get them, what if the grades aren’t what you had hoped for?
What if?
There’s the chance that your grades don’t meet the requirements of your ‘ideal’ university or college. One alternative option is going into ‘clearing’ and playing the lottery of being paired with a University course that has spare spaces. Doing this is risky, there’s a high chance that only courses/subjects you had no interest in have any spaces.
However, this could be the opportunity to decide on an alternative route. Consider looking at an apprenticeship or one of our Building Better Opportunities partnerships.
Community Connections North (16+) and Enterprising People (18+) are open to anyone that is economically inactive/ out of employment and education. If you didn’t make it into a university course, perhaps your efforts are better served at building your own business? Or training to be a child minder?
The partners within Enterprising People can help with setting up as self-employed or creating a business plan and starting off on your entrepreneurial journey. If your disappointment with your grades has knocked your confidence, The Keystone Development Trust -part of Community Connections- can help with building your self-esteem and motivation again, as well as identifying employment opportunities, helping you prepare for the interview as well as improving your current skill set, or research alternative courses.
