Dallow Development Trust was established as a not for profit community enterprise and charity in Luton in 2000, to serve its 14,000+ culturally diverse constituents in the ward of Dallow - which has areas in the top 10% most deprived in the country. Ethnic Minority Training Project

Project Name: Learning to Succeed

Ethnic Minority Training Project will provide integrated, individually tailored support, including access to job seeking help, training, and peer group mentoring to ethnic minority ex offenders in Luton to overcome effects of multiple disadvantage, prevent re-offending and integrate them back into the labour market.

Family Groups, Bedford

Project Name: An Introduction to working in Childcare

We will deliver two Introduction to Childcare courses for women who live in Bedford, who are not currently in employment and who are considering a career in Childcare. The courses will provide an insight to skills and procedures used in Childcare and each participant will complete 5 hours work experience in our crèche settings. We will also provide language support for Bengali speakers. Learners will build up a Personal Development Portfolio to evidence their learning and they will receive individual support to help with job search, volunteering and further educational opportunities.

Lewsey Farm Learning Centre Trust

Project Name:  Embark on employment

The project will be supporting thirty long term unemployed young people in Lewsey Ward in Luton to develop employability skills which will eventually lead to employment or further learning. These will include, job search, interview techniques, personal preparation for employment and improvement in skills required for the working environment.

The Bedfordshire John Howard Society

Project Name: Job Help 4 U

Job Help 4 U is an employment support project that enables unemployed participants, aged 18 and over and from BME communities to move closer to their chosen employment.  It is delivered by Luton Foyer that has 15+ years experience of helping its customers to develop, gain new skills and secure jobs.  Each programme is individually designed to target activities that will give the maximum benefit to each participant.  Intensive one to one support is delivered in a welcoming and friendly environment and in total confidentiality.

Youth Inspired C.I.C.

Project Name: Finding Futures

An exciting new course supporting adults with learning difficulties or mental health conditions to search for and prepare for employment or further training. With a high level of support this is the perfect programme to help individuals grow in confidence and tackle barriers to personal development. Each course will be delivered 1 day per week over 13 weeks from a newly refurbished training facility in Bedford town centre. The programme will cover both sessions within the centre but also various activities within the local community and volunteering opportunities.

Project Name: Community Access to Learning and Employment

The project will enable the beneficiaries who are 18+, unemployed or economically inactive and have not engaged in any structured learning (many without any formal qualifications) predominately from BME communities living in Biscot, Dallow, High Town and Saints wards of Luton to participate in activities to improve their confidence, motivation, interest in undertaking informal learning leading to take up of further education and training and employment opportunities.

Shanthona Womens Group

Project Name: LiFe+Shanthona

To provide holistically delivered culturally appropriate activities and informal/ formal learning, For Asian women, unemployed, Exercise, health & lifestyle promotion, voluntary training with language support in Bengali, Urdu, Hindi. Full IAG support will be offered from start to end.

Bolnhurst Stables Trust

Project Name: Development of "working together" groups

We work with small groups of vulnerable adults including disabled, autistic, ex offenders and those with mental health problems. We care for six acres of woodland, hedges meadow and fruit orchards; growing over 100 varieties of wildflower plants for sale. We also produce a variety of preserves, cards jewellery and gifts.  We encourage each individual to discover and develop their own strengths and skills within a small working team. For those who struggle with particular difficulties or barriers to living and working in the community, we offer a safe and caring environment in which to progress towards independence.

Voluntary and Community Action South Beds

Project Name: Springboard for Women Returners

The project will deliver two courses for women who are not currently in employment who wish to return to work or improve their economic well-being.  The courses will enable women to assess their skills, aspirations and life goals and to develop a personal action plan that will take them on a pathway to achieving their aspirations, including options leading to further education, training, paid work and/or volunteering.
