Funding for Apprenticeships

Funding for Apprenticeships is provided by the National Apprenticeship Service through various support organisations. The funding will be paid into the account of the organisation that provides the support or training for the Apprenticeship, generally this will be the training provider. Some large employers have direct contracts with the National Apprenticeship Service and they may receive the funding directly.

Employer contributions for Apprenticeship training will vary and is dependant on the age of the candidate, geographical location and the sector your business operates in.

Funding for age groups can vary from provider to provider but typically it's as follows:

  • Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds – training costs are fully funded
  • Apprenticeships for  19-24 year olds – up to 50% of training costs will be funded
  • Apprenticeships for individuals who are aged 25+ - funding contribution will vary between sectors and geographical location.
