Community Grants: Growing voluntary organisations

Written by Dominic Wade on 30 September 2011.

TCHC received 110 applications by the 12 August deadline for Community Grants. Pre Contract meetings have been held with the successful small third sector organisations and details of these organisations and their projects will be on our website by Wednesday 12 October.

The programme is available to individuals who are aged 18 +, unemployed or economically inactive, and live in the East of England. Projects will start delivering on Monday 3 October.

The projects will be provided by specialised voluntary and community organisations to offer support with CV writing and interview techniques, initial help with basic skills, training and advice in new skills to move closer to employment, and undertake voluntary work with the organisations themselves. The projects will particularly be looking at confidence building and personal development for individuals far from the job market.

TCHC is looking to provide opportunities to voluntary and community organisations, especially on activities to empower individuals out of work, to overcome barriers to learning and employment. Community Grants will develop organisations in receipt of funding, to train their staff and volunteers, improve training delivery, to be more sustainable for the future. Community Grants is a rolling programme with 5 rounds of funding available until December 2013. Details about the next round will be sent in our next newsletter.

Please get in touch with our Community Grants team if you know someone that would benefit from support to move closer to employment. Please also get in touch if you would like to have links with this programme or have possible partnership opportunities for the future.
